FAW created the Besturn brand on 18 May 2006, launching it with the B70 saloon: 「奔腾品牌创立于2006年5月18日」.

- 2006 FAW created the Besturn brand on 18 May 2006, launching it with the B70 saloon: 「奔腾品牌创立于2006年5月18日」. The cars were built by FAW Car, FAW's listed subsidiary, until the business moved into 一汽奔腾轿车有限公司 in the 2019–2020 restructuring; the English name became Bestune and the badge was redesigned in May 2021.

A carmaker that began as the First Automobile Works and is owned by the state through the State Council's assets commission. It runs Hongqi from its own headquarters, builds Bestune through a subsidiary that has taken in outside investors, and holds the majority of its joint venture with Volkswagen, which makes the Jetta brand alongside Volkswagens and Audis.
