  1. 2023 BYD launched Yangwang on 5 January 2023 as the million-yuan brand at the top of its range. Its 2023 annual report says 「本集团于年初正式发布全新高端品牌「仰望」,以颠覆性的技术和产品开拓百万级新能源市场,并重塑新能源时代高端品牌价值观」 — "at the start of the year the Group formally launched the new premium brand Yangwang, opening up the million-yuan new-energy market with disruptive technology and products and remaking what a premium brand means in the new-energy era". Xinhua reported the launch on the day: 「1月5日,仰望品牌暨技术发布会在深圳召开」, "on 5 January the Yangwang brand and technology launch was held in Shenzhen", where 「比亚迪正式发布了全新高端汽车品牌「仰望」及其核心技术「易四方」」 — BYD formally launched the new premium car brand Yangwang and its core four-motor 'e⁴' drive technology — together with the U8 off-roader and the U9 supercar. The U8 luxury edition went on sale that September.
