Gianni Agnelli turned an existing Giovanni Agnelli S.r.l. into Giovanni Agnelli e C. S.a.p.az., a limited partnership with shares, to hold the family's stake in IFI in one place; Il Sole 24 Ore reports that he began preparing the papers on 21 January 1987 and that the new company started with about three quarters of IFI's capital, contributed by nine branches of the family.
