Avatr is independent. It owns itself.

Eight years, two owners

The year is coloured by whoever held it at the time.

1. 2018 Avatr began in 2018 as 长安蔚来新能源汽车科技有限公司, a venture between Changan and NIO in which each side held half and neither controlled it: Changan's accounts describe 「本公司原持有长安蔚来新能源汽车科技有限公司…50%股权，能够对其实施共同控制，按权益法核算」, joint control accounted for by the equity method. It was registered in Nanjing. The venture was recast as a premium electric brand with Huawei and CATL alongside Changan, and the company was renamed 阿维塔科技(重庆)有限公司 in May 2021, a change Changan notes against the subsidiary table of its 2021 annual report; the first car, the Avatr 11, was shown that year. Wikidata dates the company to 10 July 2018.
2. 2020 Changan took control of the company that became Avatr on 31 May 2020, buying a further 45.38% for 90,000,001 yuan in cash and going from half to 95.38%: 「本年内，本公司以现金人民币 90,000,001.00 元取得了长安蔚来 45.38%的股权，购买日确定为 5 月 31 日。收购完成后，本公司合计持有长安蔚来 95.38%的股权」. It was brought into the consolidation as a business combination not under common control and generated goodwill of 39,078,794.37 yuan. Avatr's own listing application names the seller: "On April 2, 2020, NIO and Changan Automobile entered into an equity transfer agreement, pursuant to which NIO agreed to transfer, and Changan Automobile agreed to purchase, the registered capital of RMB40,310,000 of our Company at a nominal consideration of RMB1." That RMB1, with the RMB90,000,000 Changan subscribed for at the same time, is the 90,000,001 yuan its own report records. NIO Co., Ltd. is ultimately wholly owned by NIO Inc., which this dataset has not collected. Changan's control lasted under two years.
3. 2022 Changan stopped controlling Avatr in March 2022, when a capital increase brought new investors in and cut its holding from 95.38% to 39.02%. Its 2021 annual report records it as an event after the balance sheet date: 「于2022年3月，本公司的子公司阿维塔科技(重庆)有限公司…完成增资扩股及引入新投资者。本次增资完成后，阿维塔科技的注册资本变更为人民币1,172,242,578.00元，本公司对阿维塔科技股权比例由95.38%减少至39.02%，本公司丧失对阿维塔科技的控制，自增资完成日不再将阿维塔科技纳入合并范围」 — the company lost control of Avatr and stopped consolidating it from the completion date. No single party took its place: Changan remained much the largest shareholder and rose slightly to 40.9939% in the following year without regaining control, and Avatr has been carried as an associate ever since. That is why this is control ending rather than a sale, and why Avatr now answers to no company in this dataset.
