- 2013 Haval became a badge of its own on 29 March 2013. Great Wall's own timeline records 「29 Mar. 2013 哈弗品牌正式独立，长城汽车从此进入哈弗与长城双品牌时代」 — "on 29 March 2013 the Haval brand became formally independent, and from then on Great Wall Motor entered an era of two brands, Haval and Great Wall". The 2013 annual report says the same thing in its own words: 「本集团去年将 SUV 旗下哈弗系列分拆出独立品牌，标志着长城汽车的质量水平上升到另一个新台阶」, the Group splitting the Haval SUV series out into an independent brand, and it describes the H8 as 「哈弗品牌独立后首款中高端巿场的越级豪华 SUV」, the first premium SUV after the brand became independent. The name is older than the badge: the same timeline records 「06 Mar. 2005 哈弗投产」, Haval entering production on 6 March 2005, but as a model line sold under the Great Wall badge, which is what 2013 changed.
