In May 1918 Durant bought up the assets of the Chevrolet Motor Company and integrated the brand into General Motors, where it has stayed since.

- 1911 William C. Durant and the racing driver Louis Chevrolet founded the Chevrolet Motor Car Company in Detroit in 1911; General Motors dates the brand from that year and marked its centenary in 2011.
- 1918 In May 1918 Durant bought up the assets of the Chevrolet Motor Company and integrated the brand into General Motors, where it has stayed since.
