  1. 1909 August Horch founded a new car company in Zwickau in 1909, which was renamed Audi Automobilwerke the following year.
  2. 1965 Volkswagen took control of Auto Union with a 50.3 percent stake bought from Daimler-Benz, and revived the Audi name the same year.
  3. 1966 Volkswagen became the sole owner of Auto Union, the company that later took the name Audi AG.
  4. 1985 Audi NSU Auto Union AG was renamed AUDI AG and its headquarters moved to Ingolstadt.
  5. 2020 Volkswagen bought out Audi's remaining 0.36 percent of minority shareholders at 1,551.53 euros a share and Audi's shares were delisted.
