- 1908 Taxi dealers J.J. Mann and Tom Overton began importing and commissioning cabs for the London trade in 1908, the start of the business that became LEVC.
- 1984 Manganese Bronze Holdings, which had owned the cab maker Carbodies since the early 1970s, bought the taxi dealer Mann & Overton from Lloyds and Scottish Finance and merged the two as London Taxis International.
- 2013 Geely, already a 20 percent shareholder, bought the black cab business and its main assets out of administration from Manganese Bronze Holdings.
- 2017 The London Taxi Company was renamed the London Electric Vehicle Company in 2017 and opened a new plant at Ansty near Coventry.
