  1. 1996 Polestar began as the Swedish racing operation that worked with Volvo Cars in motorsport from 1996.
  2. 2015 Volvo Cars bought 100 percent of the Polestar performance business, including the Polestar brand name.
  3. 2017 Volvo Cars and Zhejiang Geely Holding set Polestar up as a separate electric performance car company.
  4. 2022 Polestar completed its merger with the shell company Gores Guggenheim and began trading on Nasdaq under the ticker PSNY on 24 June 2022.
  5. 2024 Volvo Cars handed 62.7 percent of its Polestar shares to its own shareholders, cutting its holding to 18 percent and leaving Geely-controlled investors as the largest owners.
  6. 2025 A 200 million dollar capital increase by Geely founder Li Shufu's investment company lifted the shareholding he controls in Polestar to 66 percent, split between that company and a Swedish Geely subsidiary.
