1. 1857 The engineer Alexander Wilson founded the marine engine works in Vauxhall, London, in 1857 from which the car maker descends, and Vauxhall became a car manufacturer in 1903.
2. 1925 General Motors bought Vauxhall Motors on 16 November 1925 for about US$2.5 million, after Vauxhall's board agreed the sale late that year, and Vauxhall became a wholly owned GM subsidiary. The shares came from Vauxhall's own shareholders, not from a company the dataset could model.
3. 2017 General Motors closed the sale of the Opel and Vauxhall businesses, and with them Vauxhall, to Peugeot S.A. (Groupe PSA) on 31 July 2017, under an agreement announced on 6 March 2017; PSA announced the closing on 1 August 2017, and Stellantis dates the acquisition to August 2017. Peugeot S.A. is not in the dataset: it merged with and into FCA on 16 January 2021 to form Stellantis.
4. 2021 Vauxhall came under Stellantis on 16 January 2021, when the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Groupe PSA took effect and Vauxhall was named as one of the fourteen brands of the combined company.
